Project Summary / Description:
Sustainable product development is a method of creating materials and products that take into account the environmental impacts of production throughout their complete lifecycle. The use of microorganisms in biomaterial manufacturing, particularly in the building and packaging sectors, is a promising method for achieving environmental sustainability in the near future. Bio-based materials combine several strategies for mitigating climate change, including low embodied energy and carbon, low cost, recyclable, use of locally sourced materials, and availability as waste and by-products. As a result, they are simple to incorporate into prefabricated construction systems. Furthermore, bio-based building materials outperform conventional materials in terms of thermal resistance, efficiency of production, aesthetics, and self-growth. Biological building materials have the potential to cut carbon emissions by roughly 800 million tons per year. We strongly believe that technological innovation is necessary and using new tools like cobot and mimic will let us produce on an industrial level.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses), Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption), Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Equal opportunities: from the structure of the project team, 50% female staff, it appears that RongoDesign is concerned about respecting the principles of sustainable development, equal opportunities, gender equality and non-discrimination. In addition, as the company scales up, we want to include other minorities, such as people of color and vulnerable communities, in the team. We are a highly dedicated team aiming of developing a circular system for waste remediation using the power of mycelium. We want to make a positive impact in our community and environment, and we want to inspire others to do the same.

Mission Statement:
We offer new experiences, inspiring a more conscious relationship with the value, processes and life cycle of materials surrounding us in everyday life. A vision of home, offices, retails and spaces that embraces the radical character of nature, to build a more honest and virtuous relationship with the ecosystem we are part of. The use of these traditional materials results in energy consumption, resource depletion, and air, soil, and water body pollution during manufacture, transportation, and demolition. Moreover, the production of building materials remained responsible for eight to ten percent of the world‚ overall carbon dioxide emissions.
