Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
In Mexico 38.4% of people live in inadequate housing, 73% do not have financial access or possibilities to get a mortgage. 70% of Mexicans lives within risk areas and 1 in 5 houses lack of basic services, meanwhile 51.2% percent of total homes built are unaffordable, 16.3% of own inhabited dwellings lack secure of tenure. Only 41% of the rented homes had a contract that established the conditions of the lease. It is estimated that the poorest decile of the country's households spends about 61% of its income on housing and its services; and 34% for the next two deciles; while for the rest it does not exceed 30%. In this sense, the challenge of access to affordable homes and financing is marked by inequality. From 2013 to date 27% of the total credit granted by SHF corresponds to the Sustainable portfolio and 84% of these credits attended low income and vulnerable population. In addition, SHF Sustainable programs optimize conditions and facilities for ventilation and heating inside each house according to the climatic conditions of its location, which increases the comfort of the residents leading to an improvement in their mental and physical health, reducing rates of maternal and infant mortality, as well as reducing deaths or poisoning by dangerous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution. Also, projects must be away from the floating high-risk zones. In Mexico there are 21.6 million owner-occupied homes, according to INEGI, only 35% of the registered houses in the country are in the name of women this due to a series of economic and labor gaps they face. The SHF sustainable portfolio promoting the construction of affordable housing with competitive prices helps more women and vulnerable population to have access to adequate homes. Since the beginning of the program to December 2020 more than 313 thousand people have been benefited in 28 states of the Mexican Republic through the development of 77,424 social housing projects
