Project Summary / Description:
There is not currently a fast ramping NH3 synthesis system that can directly consume wind and solar energy and store them as a fuel indefinitely. NH3 as a fuel, carrier of hydrogen, and source of industrial heat is gaining momentum. Industry incumbents have initiated programs to green their technology and grow their facilities in anticipation of greatly increased demand. Manufactures of ships, large engines, and turbines are working to update their equipment to run on NH3. New fuel cell technology is emerging to consume ammonia directly. Starfire Energy was formed to fill the gaps in this emerging economy.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
As a company we make efforts to be inclusive. Our firm is owned 50% by a woman who is a co-founder and in a key management position. We are in the process of rolling out an employee stock option plan to ensure employees benefit as the company succeeds. When we grow to needing additional manufacturing we will not only seek locations that have appropriate raw materials and facilities but give preference to diverse environments.
