Project Summary / Description:
The purpose of my project is to achieve 100% renewable energy in 10 years for a city of 15,000 population, accomplished with minimal electrical distribution infrastructure changes and the following strategies: targeting a 300% increase in electric distribution with renewable energy, displacing natural gas in a cold climate, focusing on thermal energy storage, by applying the concepts of Harmonious Grid (NW Energy Coalition), and Link and Sync (C. Gruenwald). Applications including targeted climate/carbon fees, unlimited solar net metering, on-bill financing for efficiency, solar, storage, and fuel switching, will achieve 100% renewable energy while lowering and fixing energy costs indefinitely.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The project can give all citizens, especially youth, hope that the climate crisis can be abated. Many people, especially youth, suffer what Dr. Hermann Scheer described as the no future complex . Demonstrating that local citizens have the power to make significant changes beyond their own personal actions gives hope and a reason for acting within their own community. This project provides a model for other similar communities to follow. It can be done, because it has been done as a Canadian once told me about the wind power green project I led 25 years ago. That project became a national model that was adopted and applied, leading to over 1,000 MW‚ of wind power in such places as Austin, Texas, Calgary, Alberta, Colorado. This project can be an Archimedes wedge , (ala‚ descriptions in Dr. Hermann Scheer‚ Energy Autonomy ) activating big changes with small actions.
