Project Summary / Description:

SunFarmer began its solar journey with rural health projects. We provided solar PV systems on a rent to own financial model. But even with subsidy the system cost remained high and expansion was difficult. In 2017, we partnered with WE CARE Solar to install the innovative solar suitcase for remote health posts and birthing center. The suitcase came with panel, battery, solar light, charging station, headlight and fetal doppler which is a perfect package to be deployed in remote birthing centers which lacks access to grid.

All the remote health facilities where the solar suitcase was installed did not previously have access to reliable grid and proper alternative backup. With the help of solar suitcase the health facilities will not have to procure expensive backup system thus, it will help them to save cost which they can use to improve their other services.

After the installation, we provide basic troubleshooting and maintenance training to all the staffs, inclusive of men and women alike, which have helped to increase the knowledge. The women staffs, therefore, will be involved in decision making on proper operation of the system.
