It‚ an exciting time for food: cultivated meat, vertical farming, processing innovations... But unfortunately, these innovations exist within the food system we‚ ve had for the past 100+ years. A system riddled with waste and disconnected from today‚ climate and consumer realities. 

Project Drawdown lists Reduced Food Waste and Plant-Rich Diets as the top 2 solutions for GHG reduction. But we can‚ t just expect things to change within the current food system.
Sunrise (ideated by our CEO in late 2021) is a grocery delivery system with 3 major differentiators: First, we offer a curated good supply - fresh, local, healthy. Second, we operate a circular closed-loop logistics model. Third, we provide a deeply personalized shopping experience, enabled by smart technology and AI.

These components together create a smart food system that dramatically reduces food waste and accelerates transition to plant-rich diets. This is the future of food, and we‚ re building it.

Diet is the single most important predictor of health outcomes in the modern world, and racial & ethnic minorities face significant diet-related disparities relative to whites. These disparities result in numerous negative health outcomes, including higher incidence and mortality rates associated with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer, Type II diabetes, and obesity.

Sunrise democratizes knowledge. Our personalized platform (powered by AI) collates & simplifies available product nutritional data and contextualizes this with each user‚ unique profile. This allows us to provide tailored recommendations as well as simplified, meaningful product health info. By embedding this info within the shopping experience itself, we are able to provide our users with exactly the product info they need, exactly when they need it. This helps our users make healthier dietary decisions, like eating more vegetables, which in turn drives better health outcomes. 

And this system works for everyone, not just the educated and affluent.

Our distribution model allows us to deliver to all urban areas without bias. This contrasts with high-quality brick-and-mortar food retailers that are disproportionately located in white, affluent communities. 

As part of our focus on good supply, we curate foods that contribute to the health and wellbeing of our customers and our planet. And our focus on partnering with innovative local food brands provides opportunities for a new generation of food entrepreneurs to more easily bring their ideas to market.
