Project Summary / Description:
Tespack's Smart Solar Media bag and software platform provides access to mobile energy in off-grid locations by combining latest power electronics, smart IoT and solar energy. Tespack's SMB has been made for off-grid personnel who can create energy on-the-go and use this to power all equipment while utilising software platform to track energy generation and how much CO2 emissions have been reduced.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
A vital part of this project and the solution we have developed, is to focus on the usage of solar energy and how the usage can be tracked and recorded. When in off-grid regions, creating energy becomes a major challenge and hence we created high-efficient solar panels (up to 22% efficient) that are light and extremely durable, plus they can easily be connected together for creating more energy and power. By using solar to power our Solar Media Bag, we contirbute towards SDG 4 and in focusing on creating awareness on the usage of green energy, especially within NGOs and agencies. With our platform, we can track all energy generation, how much energy has been created from the sun and how much CO2 emissions have been saved during a certain time period. This way NGOs can show real, live-data on how they focus on sustainable energy and the advantages it has as part of their work in rural regions. Not to mention, locals can have better access to energy as well through utilising our solar. The SMB will save the environment 0.45 tons of CO2 emissions as it is recharged with solar energy, or any type of energy that does not create CO2 emissions. We base this calculation on the following assumptions that a school/classroom would use our SMB solution for 5 hours a day, for 9 months, and how a diesel generator would normally use 5 gallons per hour. In addition to this, we support agencies and companies in achieving their SDGs. We can support them with: Better access to education for youth and children in rural areas (SDG 4) Increase in economic development and lifting people out of poverty in rural regions with access to more opportunities and for households saving money thanks to solar (SDG 1 + SDG 8) Increase in gender equality with more women and girls having better access to education and training workshops (SDG 5 + SDG 10) Expand access to family planning services in rural regions (SDG 3) Increase in the activity for small businesses in rural regions benefiting from access to energy (SDG 8) Reduction in the usage of fossil fuels and fuel collection, thus reduction in overall CO2 emissions (SDG 7) Reduction in maternal death due to having safer environment for giving birth and for more accessible information (SDG 3) Decrease in gender based violence and harmful practices due to information and workshops being more accessible (SDG 5 + SDG 10)
