Project Summary / Description:

The cooperative was founded at the initiative of our Panamanian partner firm Futuro Forestal to make the Generation Forest concept accessible to citizens all around the world. The cooperative project thus has its roots in the Global South, but it is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.

All cooperative members have equal rights and the cooperative condemns any form of sexism and racial discrimination. To formalize and further pursue our purpose as a social business, including the promotion of gender and economic diversity, we are currently in the process of certification as a B-Corp. 

Besides that, our field staff for forestry operations is employed at fair conditions, paying above-average salaries and health as well as accident insurance and social security, providing constant capacity-building and education, including for operational security, health, hygiene, reading and writing. Our forestry field staff in Panama are to a large part recruited from the Ng√∂be-Bugl indigenous community, one of the most socio-economically disadvantaged communities in the country.
