Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We are founded by two women and women hold key positions throughout the team. We actively reach out to and engage with young people (as young as ten in the case of Aria Luna, one of our Artists for Air) to help build cultural connections, and refine our approach to carbon removal inspiration and messaging. Some specific ways we empower and connect with underrepresented groups in climate are described below: We have an official partnership with the Impact Travel Alliance (www.impacttravelalliance.org), a global community of 35,000 predominantly millennial travelers whose mission is to promote travel in a way that protects our earth and empowers local communities. As a component of the Adventure Travel Trade Association we naturally network and engage with climate-vulnerable communities around the world, particularly (at this stage) communities in mountain and small island developing states. A key element in the Tomorrow‚ Air outreach strategy includes a program called Artists for Air. Through this expanding network we engage with artists from all around the world and from all disciplines who are willing to align their work with a carbon removal message. The people, places and approach these artists bring to the topic of carbon removal inspires emotional connection with the subject, providing an inclusive visual language for climate action. Through our podcast, Airrows on Air, we explore the intersection of art, travel and climate action. Listeners take inspiration and education from hearing about guests‚ personal histories and what motivates their passion for climate action. The goal is to empower people from all walks of life through stories that weave climate science and climate action with engaging personal histories whether they be from inveterate travelers, artists or scientists. Through our Airbnb Online Experience, Pull Carbon From the Air we have welcomed ~100 people from all around the world to learn about direct air capture and climate action, from young people and families calling in from rural India to an environmental lawyer from Nairobi to environmental consultants from Boston, Massachusetts. Through our budding relationships with citizen science teams that focus specifically on engaging academic audiences such as Hearts in the Ice and Gap Year Association, we anticipate providing climate action educational content alongside travel inspiration to students all over the world.
