Project Summary / Description:
Our project started in the Indian context -where low incomes and high population densities make public transport the most resource efficient means of mass mobility. However, many cities are witnessing a rapid shift of public transport users to privately owned vehicles, leading to severe air quality issues and significant increase in Green House Emissions (GHG) from the transport sector. The need to pursue the twin objectives of increasing public transport share and transitioning them to electric vehicles is apparent. However, lack of data driven decision making is identified as the key barrier which we seek to address through our project.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Public transport is used by various economic and gender classes with varying contexts and travel needs. It is important to have a fair representation of the society in the team workin gon the project. Two out of our six team members are women. We aim to maintain 50% gender parity as we grow and hire more people. Similarly or team members come from varying socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Mission Statement:
Promoting public transport and electric mobility systems have been identified globally as key strategies to reduce the congestion and emission footprint of the transport sector. However, many public transport agencies are unprepared for the transition from legacy practices to an evolving mobility ecosystem with increasing availability of on-demand mobility and electric vehicle technologies. We aim to implement data analytics solutions to power decision making in transit agencies that‚ ll enable them in providing demand responsive services to users, while also supporting their transition to electric vehicles by identifying appropriate vehicle technology and charging infrastructure requirements.
