Project Summary / Description:
The promotion of clean cooking stoves as part of a broader community wide, women led health, hygiene, energy, environmental conservation, food and nutrition security program reducing deforestation and desertification in a changing and adverse socio-economic and climatic condition adversely affecting the livelihoods of an estimated 150,000 people living and working within and along Naya Hills Eco- System and another 8 million people living in the broader Lake Victoria Basin areas of Kenya. This particular request targets the 150,000 persons especially small holder families, farmers, fisherfolk, small business actors and local public servants relying on firewood and paraffin fossil fuel for household and other domestic cooking noted to increase the prevalence of upper respiratory diseases on women, children, youth and the elderly (grandmother's )who spend more time by the fireplace while also decimating much needed tree or forest cover, soil degradation, erosion, loss of biodiversity, BirdLife, wildlife migration, landslides and evaporation that leads to drought and livestock mortalities, food shortages, hunger, malnutrition, I'll health and deprivation as is being witnessed on the Naya Peninsular/ Uyoma in Madiany Division, Rarieda Sub County, Siaya County in Kenya. It is foreseen to have the outputs of improved health, safety, improved income, food and nutrition security, entrepreneurship, women empowerment, technology transfer and improved gender relations.
