Project Summary / Description:
The Wilder Carbon mission is to restore and protect UK Nature on a massive scale for Climate and Nature impact by:  Facilitating the removal or avoidance of a mega-tonne of CO2e per year by 2030; Leveraging £60M NCS income by 2030 through the sale of nature based carbon units;  Restoring 30-50k hectares of native multi-habitat; Demonstrating positive nature impact and subsequent climate resilience; by Mobilising our community of practice to improve data, design and delivery of high integrity Natural Climate Solutions matched to ethical buyers and investors.  The standard has been developed over 3 years recognising a gap in the market for financing UK nature restoration and the important role nature has in locking up additional carbon for resilient climate impact. https://www.kapwing.com/videos/63da73f8ff0e310021f0581c https://www.wildercarbon.com/how-it-works/

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Wilder Carbon projects follow the Wilder Carbon Standard for Nature and Climate within which it sets out eligibility for those delivering or monitoring the projects, our Trusted Deliverers. Trusted Deliverers are environmental experts who have a track record in safeguarding nature in the long term and this involves educating and engaging with local communities with whom we often see the most deprived communities with either a lack of access to nature, or most impacted by climate change, particularly those in coastal communities. Wilder Carbon projects must demonstrate that local communities living in the vicinity of the project site have been / are being consulted in the process of project development, and any opportunities for achieving wider social benefits that have been/ are being identified and incorporated into project design as a result. Nature is, after all, the infrastructure on which we all ultimately rely. We need to protect and restore carbon rich native habitats across the UK for climate, for wildlife, and for society.
