Project Summary / Description:
Woonderlands has set on a mission to transform degraded land into carbon hubs by combining three nature based solutions: Afforestation, Biochar and Enhanced Weathering. Through the experience of different restoration projects in Brazil and an extensive trip showing the scope of the problem, Felix and NIklas decided to found Woonderlands in September 2021. Our vision is to build an environment where carbon farming can enable the restoration of large landscapes and contribute to a more sustainable form of agriculture in the future. Thereby we especially focus on R&D and operations related to enhanced weathering, while working with partners in regard to afforestation and biochar.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We consider ourselves as social entrepreneurs with the aim to create a social business, contributing to a more sustainable and just future. In this regard the empowerment of vulnerable communities as well as the equal treatment of all races and gender is inherent to our entrepreneurial activities. Our carbon hubs are meant to bring benefits to communities and contribute to local development, e.g. through the implementation of resilient agricultural production systems, restoration of soils, creation of jobs and opportunities for communities related to the restoration activities and collection of native seeds, capacity building regarding land management and restoration, etc.
