Project Summary / Description:
Global Humanitarian Pivot for Development and Research is a Jordanian organization that is dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. We work to raise awareness, educate the public, and advocate for policies that promote climate action. We are one of the first organizations to work to address the climate crisis protection in the Middle East. Since our official establishment in 2015, we have been unable to secure any support or assistance. The most significant challenges we face are the absence of funding or support, a lack of awareness of the seriousness of climate change, and the political instability resulting from fragile stability in the Middle East. Nevertheless, we must never lose hope or stop. We must hold fast to the values of peace, goodness, and work for life, for clean water, clean air and clean food for all people. We have maintained a dedicated website for climate-related initiatives for years: [Website Link] (https://climateandpopulation.org/en/ ), and we are in the process of launching a scientific journal specializing in climate: [Journal Link] (https://global-journal.org/category/14 ). Additionally, we are working on establishing a permanent climate conference: [Conference Link] (https://climate-conf-online.org/ ). We have conducted various training courses and awareness programs in the field of climate an example a conservation program that we implemented in the Northern Badia region of Jordan in 2019 is the Desert Species Conservation Program, this program aimed to protect and restore the populations of endangered desert species in the region. And have been engaged in a climate literacy project in the Middle East and North Africa for years, Including Egypt, Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, and Algeria. We operate multiple websites dedicated to humanitarian work, which are currently available in the Arabic language. We plan to launch English versions soon. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were the first organization to introduce the idea of providing free transportation to people from impoverished and marginalized areas. We implemented this initiative using eco-friendly means of transportation, covering the expenses ourselves. We rented 11 electric cars for 10 days, at a cost of approximately $4,900, to transport citizens to vaccination centers and back to their homes. Our focus was on areas in the Northeastern Badia, including: Al-Mafraq, Umm Al-Jamal, Deir Al-Kahf, and Al-Safawi. Our dream is to witness planet Earth achieving net-zero carbon emissions. We envision a green, beautiful, and joyful planet where people cherish their world, love life, and enjoy comfort and peace while utilizing technology to improve their lives. We were the pioneers who introduced the slogan: 'Let's make technology our sixth sense. The easiest way to understand climate change is to present it in an engaging story. This is what we did when we created a website dedicated to this purpose. We are working on developing it to become more impactful, especially in terms of storytelling, linguistic aesthetics, and multilingualism. The website in question: https://climateandpopulation.org/ The random population increase in Arab and Islamic countries leads to food and water shortages, the spread of diseases, increased conflicts, and exacerbation of poverty and marginalization. We are the first organization in the region to openly address this critical issue and provide practical solutions. This issue is often overlooked by governments and organizations due to religious and social sensitivities in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in some Asian countries. However, our practical and scientific approach, credibility, neutrality, and the respect people have for us, all qualify us to openly raise the issue and work towards its resolution through legislation, awareness, and practical programs. We are understand that obtaining support is challenging, if not impossible, particularly for an organization operating in the Middle East. However, we are making every effort and remain committed. We need support to continue our project: Educative through awareness, field by contributing to a green environment, and legal by including climate in educational curricula. For more information about our climate action initiatives and funding needs, please visit our website: [Website Link] (https://humanitarianpivot.org/ ). We are grateful for the support of our donors, and we hope that you will consider supporting our climate action initiatives. Your funding will help us to continue to make a difference in the fight against climate change. Humanitarian Pivot has a strong presence in the Jordanian Badia, which is entirely located in the Jordanian desert. This desert accounts for 75% of the area of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and it extends to the borders of Jordan with Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. At Humanitarian Pivot, we are working to educate the Jordanian community, local and international investors about the importance of exploiting this desert for agriculture through encouraging the use of organic fertilizers, especially green manure and animal manure. We are also working to raise awareness of the appropriate crops for this desert and to apply the concepts of smart desert. In addition to our climate action initiatives, we also believe that we can play a role in peacemaking in the Middle East. Due to the respect that we enjoy among the peoples of the region, we are well-positioned to promote dialogue and cooperation on climate change and other issues. We believe that by working together to address these challenges, we can build a more peaceful and sustainable future for the Middle East. We will succeed when we make every person on this earth believe that addressing climate change is a personal issue that concerns them, as it concerns others. We will succeed when we understand the meaning of Jesus Christ's reference to us as one body because there is one bread. In addition, we need to disseminate new concepts in the Middle East and North Africa, such as the concept of miniature forests that can be planted in urban areas or their vicinity. These forests provide numerous benefits to the urban environment, including purifying the air of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and fine dust particles. This requires collaboration with municipalities and the promotion of such a culture among government officials, as their conviction is the key to success. Yes, to succeed, we have a long and challenging journey ahead of us, but our morale is high, and we are prepared for it so we need your support. Artists such as Samah Jarar, link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOAEidyBCa0 and Mai Abdeldayem, link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOszm3-rrYo have sought to promote our work. Many women have also given testimonials about our interest in them, such as this example from women in Algeria: link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4OXplbTnas and in Jordan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XlaL-SpYRI&t=3s However, we recognize that we need to collaborate with social media marketing experts today. This is one of the goals that we will start immediately as soon as we can obtain funding. Our project is interested in empowering women and respecting women all over the world, without any discrimination based on race, religion, dress, or appearance. In one word, we believe that in order for our cultural and social message to be ideal in the field of climate action, we must create a community and cultural participation that leads to things such as: environmentally friendly and sustainable music and cinema, handicrafts made from sustainable materials, writing competitions and recycling campaigns that are implemented in innovative ways, educational programs that are different from their predecessors, beach cleaning initiatives and similar areas that do not end once the specific task is completed... and other initiatives and innovations that are enjoyable and easy to implement that promise us true human belonging, a better tomorrow, and unlimited support. Finally, if many initiatives have failed to bring peace to the Middle East, perhaps climate action initiatives can contribute to that. Let us try to bring people together in this sad region to protect their planet and save their present and future.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Educative through awareness, field by contributing to a green environment, and legal by including climate in educational curricula. The Humanitarian Pivot has set itself more than 12 achievable and measurable goals, which are innovative cultural, educational, and social goals. These goals are not limited to Jordan alone, but cover the Middle East region and some North African countries as well. Our goals are not theoretical, and since 2015, we have partially achieved some of them. Others are still awaiting funding that we have not been able to secure so far. Some of our innovative goals include environmentally friendly music, integrating climate action into school and university curricula, in addition to goals related to youth, academic research, and legislation and laws related to climate action. We have also set goals related to solving the problem of plastic pollution in local communities in Jordan, in addition to investing in the Jordanian desert, and other goals that we have explained in this project in detail. We have also included links to documents, including government documents that confirm the nature of our work, through our responses to the project requirements. Every morning, as we go to work, sit at our desks, or work from home, we repeat: We must save our planet now and immediately. Thank you very much In the following link are pictures of some of our activities in more than one country: Ukraine (before the war), the Sultanate of Oman, Algeria, and Jordan. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17AcqI6Nbr0rX3VvMpuXQW83hdJVeVHUI?usp=drive_link

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
As Middle Eastern advocates for human rights, including freedom, dignity, and the right to choose one's beliefs and identity, we struggle to find donors who share our vision and values. Our efforts to protect our planet from harmful emissions are similarly underfunded. Promising projects are abandoned, lost, and forgotten. We therefore look to the United States and Europe to lead the way in supporting our mission and saving those who are desperate and disillusioned. The United States remains a beacon of hope for human rights, dignity, freedom, creativity, innovation, ambition, and prosperity. Note: We seek to transform it our organization from non-profit status to Undesignated status due to strict restrictions on non-profit organizations. The status of Undesignated gives us a greater margin of freedom of movement and granting incentives, and more flexibility in implementing a variety of activities and projects. We made this decision because it makes it easier for us to invite our supporters to view our work freely and without strict restrictions. Our impact on underrepresented groups is significant. These communities trust us because we have helped them and stood by them. We have provided them with free education, visited them in the field, and helped some marginalized communities access free vaccination centers during the COVID-19 pandemic. These communities have made many videos thanking us for our support. We have also helped some children from marginalized communities return to school, and we organized an international conference in Jordan in 2018 to address school dropout. The conference was sponsored by the Minister of Education and attended by the Jordanian Teachers' Union and guests from Arab and Western countries. The trust of marginalized communities in us is very great. We are also concerned with women, girls, the poor, people with special needs, and people with different sexual orientations. We have provided a lot of support in this area, and this support is known in more than one Arab country. We must remember that local communities are experts in their field, and this is a valuable treasure trove of knowledge. The Humanitarian Pivot team is distinguished by its diversity of experience and expertise. It is a team that loves our planet as much as it loves all human beings, and it fights against any form of discrimination or racism. It is a team that respects all people, regardless of their race, nationality, religion, or gender. It is a team that is particularly supportive of women, with women making up more than 65% of its members. Today, we have over 100 volunteers who work together with a strong team spirit, high motivation, and high morale. Young people dominate the scene, and these volunteers who love field work have been able to build strong relationships with local communities, especially marginalized and deprived communities. The team leader at this stage is Prof. Dr. A. H. Al-Nuaimi, a professor at Al- Balqa' Applied University (BAU) and a leading figure in the field of climate action. He is known for his work to promote public acceptance of vaccines and his commitment to integrating the Arabic language with the digital age. This year, Professor Al-Nuaimi was chosen to lead a committee to develop the curriculum for the Al- Balqa' Applied University. He has successfully integrated climate action into the curriculum, which will be taught starting in the academic year 2023-2024. In this link is a collection of official documents that support these facts: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13jIacoFYm-1Cp2y6zPqj_tXnhYK-ys-5/view?usp=drive_link Every morning, as we go to work, sit at our desks, or work from home, we repeat: We must save our planet now and immediately.
