Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The long term beneficiaries of this initiative are an estimated 700,000 Indigenous people from 30 indigenous nationalities and peoples that inhabit the Sacred Headwaters bioregion. The indirect beneficiaries are an additional 2.3 million non-Indigenous residents who also live in this bioregion and depend on the Amazon rainforest for their wellbeing. Our Bioregional Plan spells out solution pathways to end deforestation and improve livelihoods, uphold collective land rights, improve ecological resilience, address education, health and transportation, food sovereignty, and energy access all within an ecological framework. To help ASHA deliver on the implementation of the Bioregional Plan, this grant will support ASHA’s Technical Secretariat, our work to implement the bioregional plan, legal strategies, and our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning systems.
