Our project, "Maranhão Regenera," actively empowers traditionally underrepresented groups in the climate movement by integrating them into the core of our operations and decision-making processes. By focusing on small family farmers in São Luís, many of whom are women and people from climate-vulnerable communities, the project directly addresses the socio-economic and environmental injustices they face. It provides these groups with training, resources, and support to engage in agroforestry and sustainable agriculture, thereby enhancing their resilience to climate change and improving their livelihoods. The initiative is designed to foster socio-environmental entrepreneurship, offering a platform for these communities to lead in the creation and implementation of climate solutions. Through this approach, the project not only contributes to carbon sequestration and the restoration of degraded lands but also ensures that the benefits of these actions, such as income from carbon credits and the production of sustainable agricultural goods, directly support and uplift underrepresented groups.
