Through inquiry-based learning activities, #Decarbonize promotes education, facilitates global conversations, and equips children with the essential skills to actively contribute to policy discussions and take meaningful action on climate change. Scaling up systematic high-quality environmental education and skill building is essential to realize the objectives of the UN SDGs, the UNFCCC Paris Agreement, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Young people are traditionally underrepresented in these conversations, yet are critical partners in implementing climate and environmental policy goals. 

In aligning with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, #Decarbonize pedagogical framework supports and empowers young participants to make official statements, provide technical and policy inputs to negotiation groups, engage with decision-makers in high-level meetings and in informal settings, and raise awareness through advocacy activities. #Decarbonize has built a platform that facilitates authentic and systematic involvement of diverse children from across the planet in the dialogue at COP and other global decision-making bodies. The program nurtures a generation of informed and engaged citizens who are not only aware of the challenges but are active participants in crafting sustainable solutions.
