(i) More African women are shifting away from gas stoves into charcoal and firewood; the price of gas is about $.75 per kg; energy-poverty is pushing more households into using highly polluting energy. Homes are often filled with fumes with families ignorantly inhale. The WHO confirmed firewood emission kills about 500,000 women and children in Africa annually. D-Olivette is targeting this segment, and providing them with clean cooking fuel, clean electricity and bioslurry for uses in their kitchens, gardens and farms through its innovations.
(ii) The AFAN: All Farmers Association of Nigeria confirmed about 5% of its members abandoned the farming profession in 2022 due to (1) increasing price of diesel which farmers used for energy; (2) soaring cost of chemical fertilizer and (3) the skyrocketing prices of animal-feed. D-Olivette is helping small-holder farmers by installing Bio-Stations on their farms; the innovation transforms existing organic waste into clean energy, organic fertilizer and animal feed supplement. Now, they depend less on harmful diesel and chemical fertilizer which harms the soil, environment and even their health; while saving more money and protecting the environment.
