Since Black soldier fly (BSF) farming is an affordable and accessible method of waste conversion and protein production, EcoKud has been committed to mentoring youths in the adoption of BSF farming as a means of engaging in sustainable agriculture and waste management businesses. BSF farming can be implemented in both urban and rural areas thus providing opportunities for participation by a diverse range of individuals. Currently, EcoKud has mentored 30 youths who have actively taken up BSF farming as a means of livelihood. 
Implementing BSF farming projects has enable us to train over 100 youths in regenerative Agriculture and circular economies thus further empowering youths in sustainable practices.  Our farm has also employed 7 youths, 3 of which are women thus creating employment for persons who faced barriers to employment in traditional sectors.
Youths in the flood prone lake basin are of Kisumu who are facing food insecurity have benefited from affordable and highly nutritious protein supplement for their livestock making them more resilient and food secure.  Besides, the homeless in Kisumu who stay in landfill have always been burdened by poor waste disposal have found a little relief since less waste is dumped in landfills.
