Frontline communities are electrifying at an unprecedented rate, but their electrical grids face reliability and resiliency challenges as electrification stresses the grid while suffering from increasingly extreme weather events brought on by climate change. We are building high-speed electric vehicle chargers that can also provide backup power to outage and disaster-prone areas and be installed rapidly even with limited power availability. To proactively understand where the grid will simultaneously experience a sharp uptick in EV adoption and have issues recovering from increasingly frequent outages, we have developed a software-based tool to identify ideal locations within climate vulnerable communities for our system to be implemented.
