Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
This transformative ecosystem restoration, integrates the inclusion of local stakeholders and innovative drone-planting technology. This joint project with Lucha Startup Studio, CINCIA, Kotsimba, and others will align local stakeholders and build the local restoration economy. Developing the local restoration economy with local drone pilots, seed collection, seedball manufacturing, and long term monitoring and maintenance creates a repeatable structure to allow small-rural communities to access technology and carbon markets and to achieve VCS, CCB and SD-Vista certifications. This drives a premium price and provides annual recurring income. Decision making starts with the local communities. By engaging through open communication with its members and leaders, we ensure species are both native and natural, and also leverage the insights and knowledge of generations. Kotsimba is part of the Harakbut ethnicity, one of the 10 ethnic groups present in the region, representing 3% of the entire regional population. This small percentage portrays the large migration of Peruvians from other regions into Madre de Dios, displacing traditional peoples and increasing the pressure on the natural resources.
