Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Fyona Cakes and its project “BakeGreen” actively empowers women, youth, and marginalized communities in Wakiso through training them in briquette production, briquettes are used in baking as replacement for firewood and charcoal, some use the skill to produce briquettes for sale, providing them with an alternative economic empowerment initiative. By promoting fruit tree planting, when you buy and bake a cake, you plant on tree, BakeGreen addresses the socioeconomic factors affecting women, youth and entire community fostering sustainable livelihoods and promoting community health. Fruits from the trees are eaten for its nutrition values and some sold to earn income for the households. Our training programs and awareness campaigns prioritize inclusivity, reaching out to vulnerable communities and ensuring that the benefits of eco-friendly practices are accessible to all. By actively engaging with diverse groups, BakeGreen not only addresses climate change but also champions social equity, creating a more inclusive and resilient community that reflects the needs and strengths of its diverse members.
