WCNGF strongly envisages simultaneously achieving environmental (biodiversity, water and ecosystem function), economic (decent jobs, income, livelihoods) and social (fairness and equity) co-benefits as a central tenet – based on the assumption that benefits for humans and the environment must go hand-in-hand, as the human and environmental systems are inextricably coupled. Because agri-food system is a major sector for the employment of women, it also offers an opportunity to demonstrate a commitment towards gender equity and women led enterprises. The facility will integrate gender-sensitive planning and implementation, particularly for women farmers and women-led enterprises, across the funded projects. The aim will be to enhance the resilience, nutrition security, income and livelihoods through restorative and integrated agriculture; identify opportunities to invest in women led and governed companies; income generation for women through direct and indirect employment; and the adaptation of climate resilient and agroecological products or services by women. The facility will also support female entrepreneurs around the world by filling the capacity gaps to implement and scale agroecological products and services and financing gap to establish businesses and diversify income.
