Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our Project empowers those traditionally underrepresented in the climate movement by specifically targeting smallholder farmers in the Lushoto district of Tanga, in villages surrounding the Usambara mountain range. This region is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and soil degradation, and the project aims to build resilience and support equitable energy access in these communities. The project employs a youth-led education approach, providing opportunities for 50 young people to take on leadership roles and share their knowledge with their communities. This not only empowers young people, but also ensures that the project's impact is felt by future generations. The project also collaborates with 10 women-led groups and local cooperatives, providing opportunities for 200 women to take on leadership roles and participate in decision-making processes. This not only empowers women, but also ensures that the project's activities are tailored to the specific needs and priorities of the community. Finally, the project's focus on nature-positive agricultural practices and carbon sequestration provides opportunities for 300 smallholder farmers to participate in the global climate solution. By improving soil fertility and increasing farm productivity, the project supports the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and builds resilience at both the individual and community levels.
