We focus on India's textile sector, one of the largest industries with diverse clusters serving foreign and domestic markets. Large exporters firms are transitioning to renewable energy, prompted by government and foreign buyer initiatives. However, they often outsource resource-intensive tasks like dyeing to smaller enterprises to manage costs. Supporting adoption of EETs in these latter improves the sustainability of the supply chain. Further, they predominantly employ low-skilled workers from poor socioeconomic backgrounds and have higher exposure to climate related risks. Adopting EETs can enhance their working conditions and thereby reduce health and productivity risks. Thus, our project can potentially benefit both small enterprise owners and their workforce.
