InPlanet is currently operating in three Brazilian states, working with local farmers and quarries to realise Enhanced Rock Weathering projects, positively affecting local communities. Our farming partners differ from a couple to some hundred ha of land, yet we pride ourselves in balancing the need for quick scaling (and therefore the ‘easy’ way of engaging large farms) with the need to empower small, family-led farms to transition into more sustainable and regenerative farming practices, while increasing their income by up to 100€ per ha. Often, the farmers are people of colour, in a vicious cycle of dependence on synthetic fertilisers and chemical pesticides, leaving them most vulnerable to climate change and their entire existence, as synthetic fertilisers and chemical pesticides (paired with monocultural crop applications) lead to degraded soil and an even greater need for those fertilisers and pesticides to keep up yields. InPlanet offers them a financially viable and sustainable way to break the cycle.
