Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The beneficiary population of the project consists of single mothers and farmers from dispersed rural areas. The purpose is to empower the beneficiaries by recognizing their ancestral knowledge, through the social appropriation of knowledge by providing practical training on topics related to waste reduction, biomass utilization, composting, and by socially enhancing their own processes with related advancements in the field. For the development of the first phase of the project, the participation of 30 women belonging to the Municipal Association for the Integration of Rural Women (APRIMUJER) was considered. The participating women expressed the need for a solution for the management of organic solid waste on their plots. To address this issue, the adaptation of 30 spaces (one per associate) for the collection and transformation of organic solid waste produced in agricultural and domestic activities is proposed. Biomass bins are constructed using local materials and polyethylene, for their durability and resistance to corrosion. For the selection of materials to be composted, a size reduction was performed if necessary using a waste shredder. For decomposition, the waste will be mixed with agricultural lime to initiate the composting process.
