Kiasili Farm Agriculture is a Digital Marketplace for Kiasili Foods - Indigenous Foods. The platform is an avenue for carrying out cost-effective, climate-friendly transactions between farmers and consumers. At Kiasili, we are leveraging the informal food chain in Kenya to provide short-term and long-term solutions to the Kenya's most pressing food needs through healthy indigenous foods.  In the past, the agri-business sector has been dominated by men. The resultant inequalities create a significant gap that needs to be addressed for women to utilize their full potential in agrifood systems. Closing the gender gap in farm productivity and the wage gap in agrifood-system employment can increase income for women-led households, estimated at 25% of Kenya's population in 2019. This will serve to strengthen food resilience for individuals, households and institutions across Kenya, thus providing both affordable food and extensive employment for most especially Kenyan youth whose unemployment rate stood at 13.5% in 2022, as we aim towards zero poverty levels. In addition to this, Kiasili Nature is an initiative solely dedicated to promoting climate action amongst our consumers and producers who, as stated above, are mostly made up of women in indigenous communities and youth in Kenya.
