Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
MakeSoil empowers people by giving everyone an immediate direct climate action they can take - turning their food waste into soil locally - without waiting for any permission or policy. The MakeSoil app connects them with a "Soil Maker" near them who can receive their food scraps, or equips them to become a "Soil Maker" themselves. Our platform analytics indicate that up to 70% of MakeSoil participants are women, and approximately 40% are BIPOC individuals. Given our focus on technology and social media, we engage significantly with younger people. And because we are in 70+ countries, many of our participants are from under-resourced or climate-vulnerable communities.

Mission Statement:
MakeSoil's mission is to enable a world where every last scrap of household food waste is composted locally by citizens (instead of being trucked away to the landfill or incinerator) - making new soil that sequesters carbon.
