In recognizing that over 70% of active gamers fall within the millennial and gen z cohorts, our project acknowledges the substantial impact the gaming industry has on the environment, emitting around 375 million tons of carbon annually. Despite this, gamers have often been overlooked in climate initiatives. Midgard's innovative solution aims to bridge this gap by empowering gamers to take accountability for their carbon emissions during gameplay. By providing a platform that allows gamers to actively measure and reduce their environmental impact, we seek to engage this significant demographic in the broader climate movement. Through Midgard, we hope to demonstrate that even within entertainment industries, individuals can play a meaningful role in addressing environmental challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.
