Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Mikoko Pamoja is a community led project, local support and control have been essential components in the project since its last beginnings. Mikoko Pamoja believes that conservation can only be successful if it benefits both human and environment. We work hand in hand with locals to ensure that they have a stake in the management and protection of natural resources. By providing support for sustainable livelihoods. We help to reduce poverty and promote economic development while safeguarding the health and well-being of our planet. Several women and youth have been trained in sustainable mangrove forest management, beekeeping and collecting data for monitoring, nursery establishment and planting mangroves. Community is involved in all project activities and decide on how carbon funds are spent, priorities are made locally, democratically and funds must be allocated to community benefit not individually. At Mikoko Pamoja we believe that conserving our environment is everyone's responsibility. That's why we have made it our mission to empower locals to take action and create positive change. This collaboration fosters a sense of ownership, social cohesion and long-term impacts of the initiative.
