Like all climate and eco-stressors, microfibers disproportionately affect disadvantaged communities. In cities and urban areas, microfibers are prevalent near wastewater treatment plants, typically located in low-income neighborhoods. These frontline communities are at risk with higher rates of illnesses associated with microfibers and lower access to resources that address health concerns. Our approach specifically targets the most prevalent type of microplastics, safeguarding nature, the health of individuals, and frontline communities worldwide.
Moby will help build community resilience through the establishment of an operating laundromat headquarters with research and development, a circular takeback system, and an educational program. Our approach aims to prevent contamination by addressing environmental injustice and empowering communities everywhere. 

Moby’s facility will serve as a hub for knowledge sharing and community engagement, and will also introduce a new technology and product to communities facing the harsh consequences of microfiber pollution. The health of the planet is at stake, and sustainable technologies are one way we can empower communities to take action. Moby will provide the resources necessary to engage with our product and access to the product so that communities can be a part of the sustainable development solution.
