Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Women play important roles in seaweed farming, including preparing the seedlings, doing post-harvest processing, and managing the cash flow. Seaweed farmers are climate-vulnerable communities because of some factors. First, seaweed productivity declines in extreme weather. Second, they live near the seashore and are vulnerable to tidal floods and tsunamis. Third, if a climate-related disaster occurs, the seaweed farmers have the least capability to solve it and rebound. Fourth, the farmers have no access to health facilities if they have plastic pollution-related disorders, such as fetal growth restriction, hormone disruption system, trigger diabetes, and autism.
