Tahoe Composts is committed to ensuring that all members of mountain communities will be given an equal chance to lower greenhouse gas emissions through curbside composting. Planning and decision-making will be driven by a sustainable, equity-centered ethos. Tahoe Composts is entirely women-owned and operated, and all members of the Board of Directors are currently female. South Lake Tahoe is 30% Hispanic or Latino; therefore community education about waste reduction and composting will be in Spanish and English.  Composting membership costs will be covered for low-income communities using funding from donations and grants. Technical assistance will be tailored to individual needs; for example, communicating by phone instead of electronic methods.

The mission of Tahoe Composts is to educate and empower residents and tourists of mountain communities to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills thereby lowering greenhouse gas emissions through community education and curbside composting services.
