Project Summary / Description:
Teaching Hope International's Climate Action Initiative in Nigeria implements sustainable food systems by promoting climate-resilient crops, sustainable agriculture practices, and reducing food waste. We supports local food systems, such as farmers' markets and community-supported agriculture programs, to boost local economies and reduce transportation emissions. our initiative also provides training and education for farmers, policymakers, and consumers on sustainable food systems and climate-resilient agriculture. We also advocate for supportive policies and create an enabling environment for sustainable food systems to thrive. This holistic approach enhances food security, improves livelihoods, and contributes to a greener future in Nigeria and across Africa.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Teaching Hope International's Climate Action Initiative in Nigeria affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by: *Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions* Teaching Hope International's climate action initiative in Nigeria is making a positive impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through: 1. *Sustainable Agriculture*: Promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices, such as agroforestry and conservation agriculture, which enhance carbon sequestration and reduce synthetic fertilizer use. 2. *Renewable Energy*: Implementing renewable energy solutions, such as Hybrid Solar Powered Mobile Cooling systems that enables farmers and food vendors to enjoy grid free-longer time storage of food and food products, solar-powered irrigation systems, to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. 3. *Energy Efficiency*: Promoting energy-efficient technologies and practices, such as efficient cooking stoves, to minimize energy consumption. 4. *Sustainable Land Use*: Encouraging sustainable land use practices, such as reforestation and afforestation, to absorb carbon dioxide. *Impact* By implementing these strategies, Teaching Hope International's initiative is contributing to: - Reduced greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and land use - Enhanced carbon sequestration through sustainable agriculture and reforestation - Increased adoption of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies - Improved livelihoods and resilience for local communities *Outcome* Teaching Hope International's climate action initiative in Nigeria is helping to mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing community resilience.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
This project provides equal opportunity for all while carefully considering people in these categories for employment and empowerment. Our sustainable food systems climate action initiative in Nigeria empowers various underrepresented groups, including: - *Smallholder farmers*: Especially women and youth, by providing training, resources, market access, hybrid solar powered mobile cooling systems and access to sustainable agriculture practices. - *Rural communities*: By creating jobs, improving food security, and enhancing livelihoods through sustainable food systems. - *Women*: Through targeted support, training, and economic empowerment in agriculture and food systems. - *Youth*: By providing opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship, and employment in sustainable agriculture and food systems. These groups often face significant challenges in accessing resources, markets, and economic opportunities.
