Save Your Hood (SYH) walks the walk when it comes to empowering traditionally underrepresented voices in the climate movement. Their commitment shines through in their impressive statistics:
A staggering 71% of their volunteers and 78% of their coordinators are female, defying the male-dominated narrative often seen in environmental activism.
With 4% of coordinators being autistic, SYH actively welcomes and integrates individuals with diverse neurodivergent experiences.
22% of their coordinators are elders, bridging the gap between generations and ensuring valuable knowledge transfer. Notably, 36% are under 22, nurturing young leaders for the future.
Volunteers and coordinators hail from various backgrounds, reflecting the richness of the communities they serve.
Initiatives are designed to be strongly inclusive, regularly partnering with refuges and people with disabilities to ensure everyone has a seat at the table.
The heartfelt responses from elders and people with disabilities, who view SYH as life-changing, speak volumes about their commitment to empowering all.
