Our project empowers underrepresented groups in the climate movement by employing international scientists from countries severely affected by climate change, ensuring diverse and inclusive solutions. We innovate by developing carbon-fortifying plants that improve water retention and soil nutrients, directly aiding subsistence farmers, often part of these marginalized groups. Additionally, by making carbon credit revenue accessible to these farmers through our enhanced planting initiatives, we provide a sustainable financial model. This integrated approach not only advances climate action but also promotes equity by supporting the livelihoods of those most impacted, including women, people of color, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities.

Mission Statement:

The Harnessing Plants Initiative is developing crop and wetland plants that will store more carbon, longer, to reduce atmospheric CO2 and mitigate climate change.
