Flexible and on-demand transit is a lifeline for communities, especially those with transit deserts, rural areas, underserved areas (or those inaccessible to traditional transit), low income neighborhoods, those needing non-emergency medical transportation, and people with special mobility needs (ex. paratransit). Per the American Public Transportation Association, 45% of Americans have no access to public transportation (that's approximately 150 million people!). This has to change if we want more livable communities that give every person the opportunity to participate in meaningful employment, recreation, use of services, and the economy as a whole.
