Diesel trucks are responsible for 50% of harmful nitrogen dioxide pollution despite accounting for just 5% of all vehicles. The emissions from diesel trucks impact low-income neighborhoods and communities of color 28% more than average communities because industrial facilities are more commonly located in these communities.

Cryo-compressed hydrogen will enable a viable zero-emission solution for heavy-duty trucking, drastically cutting down on emissions that have a disproportionately adverse impact on low-income neighborhoods and communities of color. By conducting the first pilot of cryo-compressed hydrogen for Class 8 Trucks, Verne will take a significant step towards creating a viable solution towards eliminating the harmful pollutants that impact these communities.
