Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
"Greening the Village" is specifically designed to uplift marginalized farmers in rural Bangladesh, a community often excluded from the climate movement due to limited access to resources, information, and decision-making power. Our project brings empowerment on multiple fronts: • Economic Empowerment- Affordable BioShikha biogas plants reduce reliance on costly firewood, freeing up household income. • Healthier Lives- Substituting harmful wood fires with clean biogas significantly reduces respiratory illnesses, especially among women and children. This empowers them to lead healthier, more productive lives. • Climate Resilience: Biogas adoption lessens reliance on fossil fuels, addressing climate change's impact on agriculture and food security. Improved waste management reduces methane emissions, contributing to climate action and empowering communities to build resilience. • Knowledge and Capacity Building: Active engagement through training workshops and outreach programs, especially for women, promotes knowledge sharing, skill development, and leadership opportunities. This empowers individuals to be change agents within their communities. • Collective Action and Advocacy by creating a network of empowered farmers. This ensures a stronger voice in decision-making processes, addressing their needs and concerns. "Greening the Village" surpasses technological provision; it's about empowering underrepresented communities to actively shape a healthier, more sustainable future for themselves and the planet.
