Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The project is dedicated to empowering traditionally underrepresented groups in the climate movement, focusing on women, school-level students, marginalized groups, and climate-vulnerable communities. Recognizing the disproportionate impact of indoor firewood burning on women, the initiative customizes its efforts to promote e-cooking. Inclusive sensitization and training programs are conducted to ensure equitable participation and benefits. To reach grassroots levels, we've implemented sensitization programs with local governments, Training of Trainers (ToT) for female representatives of ward-level health workers, cooperatives, and mothers' groups. Local media orientation and 30 ward-level awareness events are conducted. For which various communication channels such as pamphlets, flip charts, radio jingles, awareness videos, radio discussions, and newspaper articles are utilized. The awareness events aim to drive behavioral change, facilitating the transition from fuelwood and imported (LPG) fuel to electricity (Nepal's National grid is based on Renewable Energy) for cooking. Additionally, 10 local women from marginalized and climate-vulnerable communities will receive cookstove repair and maintenance training for the sustainability of electric cookstove adoption. The project targets 15,000 beneficiaries directly and 125,000 beneficiaries indirectly, offering knowledge and skills in electric cooking, local repair and maintenance, enterprise skills, and capacitating local cooperatives.
