Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The ZeroPlastic River Strainer project empowers marginalized groups, especially women and vulnerable communities, by involving them in overseeing and maintaining the strainers. This inclusive approach creates economic opportunities, breaking gender barriers and promoting environmental justice. Active participation in waste collection, plastic extraction, and recycling fosters gender equality and addresses climate impacts. Vulnerable communities, often most affected by climate change, play a vital role in mitigating its impacts. The initiative prioritizes social empowerment, skill development, and economic resilience, ensuring those traditionally sidelined actively contribute to and benefit from sustainable practices. Through this community-centric approach, the ZeroPlastic River Strainer project fosters a more equitable and inclusive path towards climate resilience and mitigation, addressing both environmental concerns and social empowerment within underrepresented groups.
