How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
10Power partners directly with Native communities, following the vision, guidance and direction of Indigenous climate leaders. We are incredibly honored to be working with legendary water protector, Winona LaDuke's organization 8th Fire Akiing Solar, Dr. Chief Henry Red Cloud's Red Cloud Renewables, and the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska's innovative suite of initiatives including IOWAY Farms (whose regenerative agriculture practices are featured in the 'Kiss the Ground' documentary), a Native Seed Bank, honeybee cultivation, a state-of-the-art microgrid test lab, and the largest Tribally-owned National park in the US, all striving to be net zero within the Tribe's mission to be the first 100% renewable reservation in the country. Reservations are in rural areas and face compounded energy justice issues - lack of access to electricity, frequent blackouts, poor power quality, insufficient infrastructure, exposure to toxins and much higher costs. Tribal members face the highest energy poverty rates in the US. 10Power's team is 72% women with indigenous leadership, global, immigrant and non-binary teammates. Our marketing team is based in Rwanda and we hire and train young people internally and with every project, focusing on recruiting from and providing workforce development in the communities we are partnered with.
