Project Summary / Description:
Forest Maker is a blockchain-enabled platform offering debt instruments through crowdlending to finance ecosystem restoration, addressing biodiversity loss and land degradation. Our pilot project in Gran Chaco, Argentina, focuses on restoring degraded lands through sustainable agroforestry. Investors purchase debt-based securities, earning returns while supporting environmental sustainability. Blockchain ensures transparent tracking of investments, real-time progress, and measurable outcomes. The project empowers local communities and agroengineers, creating jobs, strengthening food security, and promoting sustainable land-use practices. By restoring ecosystems, we help mitigate future deforestation and enhance land resilience, promoting long-term environmental health.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Forest Maker empowers underrepresented groups, particularly small-scale farmers and Indigenous communities in the Gran Chaco Americano, who face climate vulnerability, social isolation, and structural inequities. These groups, including women and rural populations, often lack access to resources and financial opportunities. Our platform addresses this disparity by democratizing access to climate financing through tokenized solutions that provide direct funding for reforestation and agroecological projects. This ensures that vulnerable communities are not only beneficiaries but active participants in climate action. Women, who play a critical role in community resilience and land stewardship, are prioritized through targeted capacity-building programs, financial education, and leadership training. Representation is also a cornerstone of our organization. Forest Maker collaborates closely with local leaders and employs community-based teams, ensuring decision-making reflects the voices and needs of those directly impacted. By integrating local knowledge and empowering marginalized groups, we foster climate resilience and sustainable development at the grassroots level. Our approach combines technology, inclusion, and capacity-building to bridge the gap for underrepresented groups, positioning them as key stakeholders in the fight against climate change.
