How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
BladeRunner Energy has always been driven by the goal of empowering underrepresented and/or indigenous communities in remote and rural regions around the world that do not have access to basic energy services. Key economic and social development issues of education, health, and climate change can only be addressed and alleviated through affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. The work being performed by BladeRunner Energy to install its first system for the Native Village of Napaimute (NVN) represents the initial step towards accomplishing this goal. The specific site is currently a summer-only cultural camp for community members and families, where they engage in self-subsistence practices. A large portion of the village is served by a12kW-rated fossil fuel generator. The community is represented by Dan Gillikin, the Environmental Director for NVN, who has discussed this project at length with the Tribal Council. He is actively engaged with BladeRunner Energy at every step of the overall project. Over the past three years of testing at the Tanana River Testing Site, the outreach and engagement with multiple Alaskan communities has been pivotal in reaching this stage. This practice has allowed the team to receive invaluable customer discovery and end-user feedback.
