How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Brineworks is committed to fostering inclusivity in the climate movement by hiring professionals from communities of color and climate-vulnerable regions. We also comprise a youthful, dynamic team, with most current members under the age of 30 and coming from 7 different countries. Our approach reflects the belief that those most affected by climate change should have a voice in developing and implementing solutions. Furthermore, by embedding a youthful perspective into our operations, Brineworks fosters innovative approaches and ensures that its solutions align with the needs of generations that will most acutely experience the effects of climate change. As a company, we collaborate with partners in coastal and climate-vulnerable regions, such as desalination partners in Gran Canaria, to demonstrate our technology in locations directly impacted by rising CO₂ levels and ocean acidification. We aim to create job opportunities, share knowledge, and build local capacity for sustainable practices. Our modular and decentralized technology is designed to empower communities by enabling localized production of renewable fuels, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and supporting climate resilience. By intentionally designing solutions that are accessible and scalable, Brineworks ensures that its impact is advancing climate action while empowering those historically marginalized in the climate movement.
