Primary Project Category:
Name of Project:
Year Project Originated:
Project Summary / Description:
Our newest initiative involves developing CapsoY, a groundbreaking hybrid CO2 enrichment technology that synergizes the strengths of both membrane and amine capture into one proprietary system. This technology is capable of increasing industrial flue gas CO2 concentrations from less than 1% to over 10%. The system will be developed in Canada, manufactured in China, and pilot-tested at an aluminum plant in Iceland, in collaboration with a global Fortune 500 company.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Capso believes climate change affects all people, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, and beliefs. However, we also realize certain groups of individuals in certain regions of the world may be more affected by climate change than others. We do our part in helping these more vulnerable communities by organizing our project selection and schedule to prioritize regions of the world where climate change has already negatively affected the quality of air, water, soil, public health, and economic stability of the people. These are usually developing countries with a heavy industrial sector and underenforced sustainability policies. By focusing on post-combustion technologies that capture CO2, toxins, and impurities directly from industrial flue gas facilities, we prevent source pollutants from entering the atmosphere and directly increase the quality of life for everyone. Capso is also a proud active supporter of UNICEF and NAACP, and has received distinction awards for our efforts. When hiring staff for projects, we prioritize local workers and always try to keep a 50/50 gender split. Capso is also committed to fostering strong relationships in the near future with Indigenous communities by supporting and educating them about the benefits of CCUS.
