How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Celal-Mex empowers underrepresented groups, particularly rural farming communities and women in STEM, through inclusive practices and opportunities. Farming Communities: By sourcing agricultural waste directly from pineapple farmers, we provide additional income to rural communities, often affected by economic instability and limited access to sustainable markets. Our work transforms waste into a valuable resource, fostering pride and resilience among these climate-vulnerable communities. Women in STEM: Over 60% of our interns and collaborators have been women, reflecting our commitment to increasing female representation in biotechnology. We prioritize women in STEM fields for internships and leadership roles, enabling them to contribute to innovative climate solutions. Youth Leadership: Our leadership team is composed of young professionals passionate about tackling climate change, serving as role models for youth aspiring to make a difference in sustainability. Representation: Our diverse team includes individuals from various backgrounds, ensuring a range of perspectives and experiences shape our solutions. Additionally, we are integrating workshops and training programs to educate farmers and women in rural areas on sustainable practices, further empowering them to contribute to a greener future. Celal-Mex strives to build an inclusive, equitable climate movement that uplifts all stakeholders.
