Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Citified Farms empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities, by providing them with access to sustainable urban farming solutions. Women often face barriers to economic independence and food security. By offering vertical hydroponic farming systems, we enable women to grow fresh, healthy produce in small spaces, allowing them to generate income and contribute to family food security. We actively target youth by offering training programs in sustainable agriculture, empowering them with skills for entrepreneurship in the growing agriculture technology sector. These programs focus on building the next generation of climate-conscious entrepreneurs who can contribute to local food production. Additionally, our systems are designed to help climate-vulnerable communities overcome the challenges posed by urbanization, water scarcity, and limited land for agriculture. By providing a solution that maximizes space and minimizes water usage, we help these communities grow food more efficiently and resiliently, even in the face of environmental challenges. Internally, Citified Farms is committed to diversity and inclusion. Our team includes women and youth in leadership roles, and we emphasize gender equity, ensuring equal access to opportunities for all. Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in our ongoing efforts to empower and elevate underrepresented groups within our community.
