How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our solution enhances the climate resilience of the most affected group by climate change: Smallholder farmers in the Global South. Collaborating closely with the coffee and cacao value chain, we empower rural communities in the Global South to fight and adapt to climate change with biochar, supported by carbon financing. Simultaneously, we engage directly with diverse communities in Colombia and soon other countries in the region, working alongside individuals from various ethnic backgrounds and all genders. Our inaugural project in Huila, Colombia, involves a female-led farmer cooperative comprised of 20 female coffee farmers, demonstrating our commitment to fostering opportunities for all. In our organization of 14 people, we are employing 5 people under 30 and 3 women with plans to include them in the future leadership of the company.
